Gone fishin.

Okay, not really. But we are going on vacation. So there won't be any more updates — which includes episodes of The Show — until Tuesday, January 10. In the meantime, join the forums and keep the place active while we're away.

Where are the video games?

Astute listeners and observant readers will notice that I neglected to mention / note the latest video game releases for the next two weeks. That's because IGN (which is where I gather all of my information concerning upcoming video games) recently changed their search engine, and I found it way too cumbersome to navigate through all of the results — nearly 350 — at 2:00a.

Christmas has come and gone, so Jen and I sat down to discuss our gifts. Also, December's trivia question is answered. Well, not really.

26 December 2005

Editing the second Quickie

Jen and I finished recording the second Quickie about two hours ago, so I'll edit that sucker Monday morning and have it posted on Tuesday. As always.

Before recoding the show, however, we went and saw Wolf Creek. Wow! Hopefully we'll have a review of that on our next full show.

22 December 2005

Looks like it's gonna be a Quickie

As the days continue to roll by, I'm less and less confident that Jen and I will be able to bring you guys a true episode next week. Neither of us have read Bite Club and there's no way we'll get to King Kong. Maybe we'll still cover Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk 1, or maybe we'll wait. I don't know.

All that said, at the very least we'll bring you Quickie 002 — which will probably be a "what we got for Christmas" episode. Yeah, not terribly exciting, but it's something. Plus we have to reveal the answer to this month's challenge / trivia question.

2500-plus words!

Well, I just wrote a 2500-plus word review of Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk #1, so I don't know how much more I can say about it on the show. But I'm sure I'll come up with something.

King Kong v Wolverine v Hulk

Since it's looking less and less like we'll cover King Kong this week, I'm thinking I'll have a few words about Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk. With it being only a single issue (opposed to a hulking collection like Invincible: The Ultimate Collection, vol. 1), I think I'll be able to get Jen to read it too. I do hate it when I'm the only one talking.

And I think I might cover the new X-Factor, too — if I can find it. It was sold out last week.

20 December 2005

Correspondent needed for new segment

After speaking to a listener through e-mail, it dawned on me that we don't report on comic book related movie news. That said, I'm looking for someone to record a monthly segment covering said topic. Send me an e-mail (the address is on the right) if you're interested.

Thanks for the idea, Marilyn!

King Kong v Christmas

I'm starting to think Jen and I won't be able to see King Kong this week. Even though it's only Tuesday, shopping and family parties are going to gobble up the remainder of this week. So unless we catch the film Christmas night, I just don't see it happening.

Oh well, we'll still (do what we can to) get to Bite Club. And I'm sure we'll cover our Christmas booty, so the show should (hopefully) be of a normal length.

Episode 008 is up

Owly is the cutest book ever, and the joy he brings to his friends needs to be shared with everyone worldwide. Yeah, Burnout Revenge is a great game, but Burnout 3: Takedown was that much better. Despite the fact that it's a two-plus hour movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe could have been longer. That is, if it wanted to capture that epic Lord of the Rings essence. And the very first Animazing Segment debuts!

19 December 2005

Wasting away...

For some reason this one, more than the others, felt like a huge chore to edit. Normally I finish it in one sitting. This time, however, I wasted several hours between cuts by watching TV and playing video games. Maybe I was thinking about all of the shopping I've left to do — sigh — and was subconsciously putting it off even further by taking extra time with the episode.

Regardless, the show is done, so I guess I have to go shopping now.

Editing episode 008

Gah! It's so damn late, and we just finished recording episode eight. It felt a little rushed (especially after the two-hour marathon last week) and we sort of rambled at points, but maybe I can fix that with a few edits.

Look for it Tuesday. As always.

18 December 2005

I didn't pay $9 to hear you!

Let me make something perfectly clear. When I pay nine dollars to see a movie, I have paid nine dollars I really don't have and shouldn't be spending (especially this time of year) to see a movie. I didn't pay nine dollars to listen to you yammer for two hours.

This isn't your house and we aren't watching a DVD on your TV; this is a movie theater crowded with people who want to see this film. You have no right — ZERO! — to sit there and spoil it for all of us.

Narnia

We're going to see Narnia in a little over an hour. Having never read the books, I don't know what to expect. But since I've heard nothing but good things, I'm not against going.

Owly

I love Owly. It is quite easily the most heartwarming comic ever, and needs to be read by adults and children alike.

A 21-page preview of Owly's next adventure, Flying Lessons, can be read here. And, if you like it, you can buy the complete graphic novel from Top Shelf for only $10!

Jen and I are hoping to score an interview with creator Andy Runton, so keep your fingers crossed.
